AWARD: Lifetime Achievement Award

Janice Tornow, Retired

Janice Tornow retired after a lifetime of service to Washington students with disabilities and their families. She was a special education teacher in the Bethel School District, an assistant director in Tacoma, the Director in the Sumner School District and the East Pierce County Special Services Cooperative, the Director in the Peninsula School District, The Executive Director in the Kent School District and special education program supervisor for OSPI. Janice has been a career-long member and active supporter of CEC and CASE. She also led the efforts to form the Washington Chapter of CASE years ago. Janice has been a mentor and confidant to so many special education professionals and administrators through the years. She is smart, dedicated, very knowledgeable and she asks great probing questions! Janice Tornow is synonymous with special education in Washington state.
